monkey bread...

Sunday while my sweet husband was golfing, I made him some Monkey Bread. It is so easy, and so good! mmmmmmmmmmm....

cut three cans of biscuits into fourths. Toss with sugar and cinnamon. (I just eyeball it, get a good coat of each on there...not too much though, cause you'll be adding more!)

place in greased bundt pan.

melt 3/4 cup butter, 1 cup brown sugar and 1 T cinnamon on stove, pour over biscuit pieces.

bake in 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes.

let cool, remove from pan, and enjoy!

This recipe is great for breakfast. Be careful though, it's way to easy to pull off, "just one more piece"!

Hope you all are enjoying the end of summer. It is unseasonably cool here in KC. In fact it's supposed to dip into the 50's tonight! This evening was the perfect weather for a run...I gotta do something with all this monkey bread to eat up!

have a lovely evening!

We just lost an hour of our lives...

watching this:

Not your best work my friend. As a matter of fact, this was pretty much the worst movie EVER!!

Jon and I are big Jim Carrey fans, so I picked this up at Savers a couple of weeks ago thinking it would be funny to see him before he was famous...not so much. It is basically a glorified music video for Rita Coolidge. I'd say half of the hour long movie is her singing. I guess at least it was only an hour!

delicious!

My mother-in-law sent Jon home with this giant tomato.
so we made fresh salsa.

it is delicious!

Dear baby Hollis,

Today you are 3 days old.  I printed the pictures from your mama's blog and put them on my wall at work so that I can see your beautiful little face during the day.  I can't get over how sweet you look!

I wish that I were there to hold you, and to introduce myself.

I'm your "aunt" Jen.  I'm not really your aunt, at least not in the traditional sense.  You see, your mama and I go way back.  I met her 23 years ago, and we've been the best of friends ever since.   When you see me, you'll know it's me cause I have some crazy curly hair, and I'll come bearing gifts for you and your sister.  I'll have your "uncle" Jon with me and he has a goatee and some fun glasses that you'll love to look at.  {I know this because all babies LOVE looking at Jon}

I hope I will be able to come visit you and your sister and your mommy and daddy very soon.  {If you ask Ava, she probably won't remember me, cause she was just a tiny baby herself when we saw her last.}

In the meantime, keep cuddling your mama and making your daddy so proud.  Be nice to your big sister too.

I can't wait to watch you grow up, little guy!

hugs & kisses,
aunt jen

Regina...

I've been hearing so much about Regina Spektor on some of my favorite blogs lately {here and here} that I broke down and bought her latest album.

at first, I wasn't sure it was my thing...but the last couple of days, I can't get her music out of my head.  Not in a bad way like the days of mambo #5 or the thong song {we all remember that}, but in a really lovely, I want to hear it again kind of way.
I think I might be falling in love.  so far, my favorite is folding chair.

note:  I am musically challenged.  I don't retain information like band names or albums, so often I need help finding things I like to listen to.  Any suggestions in this department are encouraged and appreciated.

p.s.  I can't believe no one commented on the bigfoot post!  I'm shocked people!  I put a picture of my father posing with bigfoot and...nothing?!  Really?!  C'mon!

cruiser...

I have a new-found obsession.  I want a cruiser.  I saw some in Jackson, Wyoming, and haven't been able to stop thinking about them since.

Wouldn't I look sweet riding around the neighborhood on this baby...

Of course, I'd need a basket and a matching helmut.  I would ride it to the store around the corner and buy some ice cream.

I'm telling you I'm obsessed...so get ready to see some more!

slacker...

I know, I know, I've been a total slacker...I'll try and make it up to you.

I have so much to share with you all!   Week before last I went on the road trip with my dad and sister, and we had a marvelous time!  I wasn't able to update you along the way like I had planned, so I have lots and lots of pictures from the trip to share with you over the next couple weeks...among other things.

Let's just take it slow, okay?  That way it doesn't seem like such a daunting task to catch back up. I'll just share a snippet at a time, until I run out of material, or you beg me to stop.  {I'd hate to be that person that makes you look at their vacation photos to the point that you want to gouge out your own eyeballs just to make it stop.}
