TGIF...

I've had the term TGIF running through my head all morning.  It's been a pretty fast week actually, but I still couldn't be happier that it's Friday.  Yesterday, i kept thinking it was Wednesday...that never happens!

So, anyway, I keep thinking TGIF, which got me thinking about Full House and Family Matters.  I remember being so excited every friday as a kid to watch tv, especially once I got a tv in my room.  It was extra exiting when i'd get to have a friend spend the night and we could watch together!  I definitely remember more about Full House, but I loved them both.  We thought D.J. was so super cool, that Michelle was the cutest kid ever and that Uncle Jesse was so dreamy!   About the only thing I remember about Family Matters is how hilarious we thought Earkle was!

Did you watch TGIF?  If so, what do you remember?

What are your plans for this weekend?

I am helping my mom with a website tomorrow morning, and then Jon and I are headed to the Home Show with my dad and his girlfriend.  I hope to also get in some cleaning and some relaxing too!

Happy Friday, hope your weekend is lovely!

birthdays and buntings...

Happy Birthday to my big sis, Brenda!
{last year's post here .}
We'll be celebrating this evening with a family dinner out, and I can't wait!

I thought this a fitting occasion to talk about my newest obsession and the first thing on my to-do list: buntings!  I can't even explain how happy they make me!  I want one in bright colors for every room in the house!  Special occasion or not, they add such cheer to a room, don't you think?

I'll be making one soon...I promise!  I just have to decide on some fabrics...

Must have?

i ran into Target yesterday to grab something, and took a stroll through the shoes.  {dangerous}
these might be a must have for warmer weather...
at $19.99, i don't see how you could go wrong.

i had some metallic wedges that were similar from a few years back, but they've seen their better day.  i think these could be their replacement.

isn't the yellow just fun?  I usually can't pull off yellow clothes with my complexion, but i'm thinking on my feet it would be okay!

ahhh, can't wait til spring!

i am grateful...

for my husband and his unwavering trust in me.

for unanswered prayers. God has given me what i always wanted by not always giving me what i want.

for the opportunity this week to see myself in a new perspective. to realize how far i've come and how much i've overcome. to know that i've grown and that i don't have to let the past be in my present.

for new friendships that are blossoming.

and, for sophie {one of our kitties} becoming more social and finding her place on the couch.

i am so very blessed.

tilt shift photos...

i came across this post the other day, and was instantly smitten with tilt shift photography.  i had never seen anything like this...or at least if i had, i was unaware of what i was looking at.

are you familiar with tilt shift photography?  if not, you can go here to learn more about it.

i found a handy tool online that lets you make tilt shift photos of your own.  i cannot wait to experiment with making some of my own!

there is just something about this style, don't you think?  i've always had a soft spot for miniatures, so i'm sure that's why i'm so blown away.  it's like looking at the most intricate model of the quaintest village you've ever seen!

I'm pretty sure....

that these guys ruined figure skating for me....

I've always loved watching skating in the olympics, but last night's pairs competition left me feeling uninspired.  All I could think about was Blades of Glory .  Funny how when you're watching the movie, it seems so out there, but then when you see the real thing, it's like...hmmm not so far fetched!  I mean, I'm pretty sure that one of the guys was wearing that fire costume last night.  One of the russian teams most certainly had birds on their chests, and the clowns, oh the clowns!

Anyone with me?

Mo the Tiger...

This weekend I finished up Mo the Tiger.  This little fellow was a custom order, and is going to some sweet MU fan out there.  I had to set aside my love for the Jayhawks just long enough to get this guy done!   I really need to make one in red and blue!

I made some spirited monkeys a while back {also for MU fans} but this customer thought a cat would be better.  They are the Tigers afterall!

If you'd like a custom School Spirit Sockey, drop me a line and I'll get started on one just for you!  {$45.00 plus $5.00 shipping}

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Hilarious!!

On the random and funny front....

I was browsing failblog {via Angela 's suggestion} and came across this...

Can you imagine how pissed this kid's parents must be!?

The funny thing is, when I first heard about the texting for Haiti thing, for a split second I thought it was to get a company to donate.  When I saw it was a $10 donation, I quickly realized it was for you to donate, but I can see how someone could think this!

My dad just sent me this...

in response to my call for random funny things earlier today...

I don't know how to add it to your blog but here is something funny. Remember this
Love Dad

Nowthat is funny!  It may be hard to tell what it is, but that,my friends, is a little character that my sister and I made up when I was a kid.  That is my chin, upside down with a face painted on it and a cabbage patch kid dress.  It is in fact totally random, and one of the most hilarious things ever!!!  I only wish it was a video, cause it is pee-your-pants funny when it talks!  Thanks Dad for knowing exactly what would put a smile on my face!  I love you!

p.s. I'm feeling much better this afternoon, but still send me random or funny stuff cause, well, it's random and funny!

bleh...

source unknown...please let me know if you know who deserves credit!

I'm feeling blue this morning.  Personal things.

There's even more snow falling, and it's  10 degrees out there.  It's so very beautiful, but all I can think of is spring, and sun.

my carpool buddy and i got one of these .  it's making me feel a little better.

I have a TON of work to do.  bleh.

whhaaaaaaaawhaaaaaaaaaa.

sorry I'm such a bummer!  how are you lovelies today?

do me a favor...tell me something funny, or random, or happy!  I need some sunshine!  {or at least some smiles!}

Relief for my head...

I have a dozen things running through my head right now that need to be done.  My problem is, if I don't get them in list form, I have a hard time actually doing any of them.  So, in order to be able to accomplish something I am going to do my friday to-do on saturday.  Here goes:

1. Clean house.  {this will aid in accomplishing the rest of the list}
2. Work on collage. {this is a project that my hubby and I have been working on as a memorial to a dear man who lost his life last summer}
3. Finish a school spirit sockey cat.  {holla, this one's an order!}
4. Write up a bid for a freelance project I'm trying to land.
5. Figure out what to take to the Super Bowl partaaaay tomorrow!
6. Grocery shopping.
7. Install my new programs on my computer!  {I've been waiting for this for so long!}

That's all I can think of right now.  I feel better already!  I can't wait to mark stuff off the list!   {yes, I'm a dork like that.}

What are you doing this weekend?  Are you a list maker?

Just Peachy....

I made this for a birthday at work on Monday.  It was so rediculous easy, just like Bakerella says.  And, it was so incredibly delicious!  People at work were going gaga for it!  I had to share the recipe with you all, because it is that good!

picture by Bakerella ...although I'm sure mine was just as pretty.  {yeah, right!}

It was especially good for taking to work because I prepared it the night before, and then popped it in the oven in the morning.  It was fresh baked and still warm when we all dug in!  mmmmmm.

Next time I make this at home, I'm so trying it a la mode!

Do you have a go-to recipe for pot luck style occasions?

pen pals...

just signed up for a pen pal via my teacups in peony .  go here to join in the fun!

spreading the love...

In general, I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day.  Don't get me wrong, I like chocolates and love as much as anybody, but it just seems so forced on that one day.  After all, shouldn't you treat your sweetie with  love every day!?

That being said, these Valentine's Day straws from a field journal sure are lovely, aren't they?

Do you and your sweetie celebrate big on Valentine's Day?
