The time Jon painted the nursery, and then re-painted the nursery...
Jon has been chomping at the bit since we found out we're expecting to paint the baby's room.
I knew right away that I wanted grey walls, but I had to figure out the bedding first. Then, I couldn't find bedding I liked, so I recruited my step-mother to help me make the bedding. Which led to having to pick out fabric, which was a whole other ordeal. Along with first trimester yuckiness, the entire process took months.
Needless to say, Jon's been waiting patiently the whole time to paint the room.
Last week, I finally narrowed down the swatches, and picked a match to the grey in my bedding fabric. Well, I narrowed it down to two....and then despite my intuition telling me to go with one, I went with the other. {This is where I went wrong. ALWAYS listen to your intuition!!!}
While I was having dinner with a friend last Thursday, Jon started painting. By the time I got home, he'd finished two coats on the walls and was ready to start trimming around the ceiling and baseboards.
First impression? BLUE.
My grey was blue.
I tried not to panic. Maybe it was the lighting. Perhaps it was the bright yellow still showing around the top and bottom, playing tricks on my eyes. Surely it would look better in the morning.....
Well, in the morning, in my half asleep stupor to get out the door, I forgot to look. But a call from Jon later confirmed my worst fear.....it did look blue.
Friday, we discussed, and I cried. Yes, cried! Oh, the hormones got the best of me that day. See, I'm not sure what it is, but there is nothing I dislike more in my home than blue anything. {remember the whole office fiasco last year?} I just can't handle it.
Jon was great. He gave me a big hug and told me that if I really wanted him to re-do it, that he would. But I just couldn't bring myself to pull the plug. He had been so excited, and had done such a great job, and we bought two gallons of paint! And, not just any two gallons, two gallons with primer, just like I insisted....the expensive stuff.
So, he started trimming. Maybe that would really help. We stood in the room, staring at the walls. "If you look long enough, it does look grey! Oh, but it looks blue over here." Jon tried convincing me that the color changing walls were cool. Ultimately, I wasn't having it.
On Saturday, I sat in the room by myself, while Jon got ready to finish painting. I finally bucked up and went to him and broke the news that I could let him finish it, but I sort of already knew I was gonna ask him to re-paint. I just knew that if I settled, I'd still be hating it in a year, and it would bug me every day.
He was so fantastically awesome.
No questions asked, he went to Home Depot and got my new paint. {the one I knew I should go with from the get-go} And, you know what, within an hour or so, the nursery was perfect!!! As soon as he started painting, I could tell it was going to make all the difference in the world.
I love it!
And, I love my husband more. He's so, so good to me!
Lesson learned: Always go with my gut!!! Mama really does know best. ;)
Do you have one color that you can't stand to have in your house?
*I just felt the need to note that I fully understand what a first world problem this was. Ultimately, just having this baby is such a gift, that what difference does the wall color make? I am so very blessed, and grateful.

A whole new wardrobe....
Here we are, it's Monday morning....again. Sigh.
But, how can I be too upset when the weekend was so great!? We're now in the full swing of summer hours at work, which means Friday afternoons morph into another day of the weekend, which is fantastic! This last Friday, despite the urge to take a nap, I decided to be productive. {shocker!}
So, a little background...
I am so blessed with some amazing friends who have loaned me a TON of maternity clothes. We're talking, I've only bought some Target maternity tanks, cause they're phenom, and some non-maternity cotton skirts, some comfy cotton shorts.....and a belly band. Yep, I think that's it. The rest of my closet is full, FULL of clothes, thanks to my super fantastic, amazing, generous, beautiful, sweet friends, Amber and April. These girls seriously rock.
Well, here's the thing, I've been shuffling Amber's maternity clothes from the spare bedroom, and working around my regular clothes, all the while being confused as to what I actually CAN wear. Well, on Thursday, when April sent me home with 3 more bags full of maternity clothes, I knew something had to change. Plus, Amanda's coming in just two weeks, and she's gonna need a place to sleep. I'm guessing atop a pile of maternity clothes is not her top choice.
Anyway, it was closet organization time! I packed up all my regular clothes into boxes to go to the basement until after baby is here {minus my cardigans, as they'll be put to use in the fall} . Then I tried on all the hand-me-downs, and packed up the things that already don't fit to give back to my friends. Then, I organized my closet with the "new" clothes.
When all was said and done, my closet is just as full as it's ever been, but everything fits! {which is an amazing feeling when you're growing by the day.} I am so very blessed. I'm pretty sure I shed a hormone-laced tear over how blessed I am by my friends. I am one lucky, lucky girl. If I had gone out and bought all these clothes I would have spent thousands of dollars, I'm sure.
Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics, but I had to give you a visual...can you believe how generous my friends are? Thanks Amber and April!!! Love you both!
Now I'm excited to get dressed in the morning! It's fun having a whole new wardrobe. :)

Half Way, Baby! {20 weeks}
Can you believe it? We are halfway through this pregnancy already! This brings with it lots of anxiety. Only 20 weekends before baby is here....and that's if baby stays put til it's due date. {!!!} So much to get done, get ready and figure out. This halfway mark also brings a ton of excitement, of course. Only 20 weeks til we meet what is bound to be our most favorite person in the whole world!
This week:
We had our 20 week sonogram! We resisted the urge to find out baby's gender. {I was so scared that we might accidently catch a glimpse of the goods, but most of the time I had no idea what I was looking at! Ha!}
Baby looks perfect! Doctor was very pleased with all the measurements and such. Sigh of relief! {I wasn't worried that anything was wrong, but it's always good to hear its' good!}
I do have another sonogram scheduled in 8 weeks to check the position of my, *ahem*, placenta. Apparently, mine is riding a little low at the moment. The doctor was not at all worried about it, but it's the kind of thing you re-check just to be sure, I guess. She seemed confident that it will move up as my belly expands. The good news is, we'll get to see baby again in 8 weeks. :)
I've been feeling really great! That being said, I've noticed just within the last few days it's starting to get more difficult to do things like bend over, and get up from a seated position. I'm also still battling the swelling.....not surprising with the rising temps. I bought a wrist brace yesterday to help with the pain I've been having from swelling/sleeping funny/ possible carpel tunnel. It helped alot just wearing it to sleep last night!
Still powering through watermelon.
Less heartburn overall. {knock on wood}
I framed baby's profile, so we have our first official baby picture displayed on the mantle. Swoon. :)
So happy.
Love, love.

19 weeks...
I've been less than great at taking great bump photos {like I had planned} and even worse at posting updates, but I figure, better late than never, and better done than perfect!
I can't believe I'm almost halfway through this pregnancy! I had my fourth "girl" dream last night. Not once have I dreamed of a boy, although Jon is convinced we're having a son. We shall see!
Can't wait til next week when we'll get to see baby at our 20 week sonogram! {Although, we won't be finding out the sex....we're going for the BIG surprise!}

I love these frames! I want to put a bunch of fun artwork on the wall in the nursery, and these would be perfect! {Except maybe in white.....or black.....or red? YELLOW!}

Productivity and Some Plans Regarding the Shop
I felt more like myself this weekend than I have in a very long time. In fact, I'm sort of shocked at how productive I was. It's not like I did anything super amazing, but it was just so much more than I've done in so long!
I officially have nursery fabric on order! Hooray! If you follow me on Pinterest, I'm sorry. I've been flooding the stream with fabric possibilities, and I can assure you, it's over. Fabrics are ordered! Now we can pick out the perfect grey for the walls, and project nursery can begin! Eeeeeeee! I'm so excited!
I also made giant headway on etsy orders....I've desperately wanted to get caught up so that I can be free to think about other things, and so my customers don't think I'm a total slacker. It sucks when you constantly feel like you're behind, you know? Well, I feel pretty great about the shop heading into this week. Now I can jump on orders as soon as they come in instead of waiting until they're almost late. {If you've found me to be slow lately, I am sorry. I've been doing the best I can!}
Speaking of the shop, I will be closing up {temporarily} at the end of summer so that I can prepare for Baby D, and enjoy some down time before our life changes forever. So, if you're looking to make a purchase for the holidays, or in general before, say February{?} don't delay! I'm anticipating closing up around Labor Day and the grand re-open date will just depend on how things go with being a new mom. I know I'll be soaking up that babe for a while, so it will be at least early next year.
This is all very bittersweet to me. There was one point during my first trimester that I thought surely I'd have to close up by July 1st. I didn't see how I could keep up. But, now that I'm feeling better, I'm enjoying my little business again. I do know, however, that I'll need those couple months to prepare, and to nest, and to soak up all the alone time we can stand as just the two of us. It will be sad to close up shop, though, even though it's temporary. When I started this little business, I had no idea how it would grow. It's going to feel very strange not painting a ton of gifts for Christmas, although I'm sure I'll be thinking of other things this year. There is no way I could do it with a newborn!
So tell me, what was your weekend like? Productive? Lazy? Something in-between? What did you do?

A few fun finds....
I'm a weirdo. I didn't think there was a theme until I wrote this post, but the theme is obviously lazy summer relaxing. Patios, pools, sun,
I love the ambiance created by these fabulous mason jar lanterns. Makes me want to sit on a patio and sip a cocktail. {you know, if I wasn't growing a human.}

I would never in a million years spend this much on a pair of sunglasses, but I just like the way these look. I feel like if you wear these you'd just be effortlessly cool.

Last, but not least, how sweet is this watch!? There's something so summery about this shade. Makes me want to sit by the pool and get tan lines.
