So, I've been promising you guys this post for a long time. Sorry about that. My blogging schedule has been a little sporadic as of late, and for that I apologize. But as you know, it happens.
Anyhoo. It's high time I introduce you all to the newest member of our family. Meet Boo Boo.
You all know how hard it was when we lost Miles. It's still hard. Even just typing that made me choke up a bit. I miss him so much. Every. Single. Day. Nothing and no one will ever take Miles' place. We all know that.
That being said, we weren't really in the market for another cat. But.....with my step-dad being a veterinarian, we're always well informed of orphaned animals who are looking for homes. So as it was, at the beginning of December, my mama called me with news of "Budah" who was looking for a home. She described him as sweet and so very pretty.
Honestly, I was hesitant. Really hesitant. My heart was still breaking badly over the loss of Miles. I wasn't sure that I was even capable of loving another yet. But, I also had a huge hole. I love our girls. I really do, but they just aren't the kind who are gonna let me pet them regularly, let alone snuggle with me. That's just who they are, and I know that. So, being starved for some furry lovins, I decided to give it a go. We went to meet him and of course, came home with him that day.
By that night, he was in the bed with me. He's not Miles, but he's a sweetheart, and he's warm, and fuzzy and I'm really enjoying getting to know his personality. And, gosh darn he's pretty, don't you think?
Anyway, he came with the name "Budah", but we just couldn't do that one, so we changed it to Boo Boo. He's my Boo Boo Kitty. He needed someone to love him, and so did I.
Everyone always wants to know how the girls get along with him. Alright, I guess. Chloe has her power struggle just like she always has with Sophie. She is the tiniest thing, but thinks she's big and bad when it comes to ruling the roost. Whatev. However, there are glimpses of hope, as they were sleeping on the bed near one another on Saturday. I think with time they just might like eachother!
So, now you know who Boo Boo is! I'm sure you'll hear lots more about him around here.
Tell me about your pets! Do you have cats? Dogs? How many, and what are their names?

A Holiday in Photos...
Our Christmas was wonderful. I hope yours was too!
I'm enjoying relaxing and doing nothing much but dinners with friends and playing on my phone. We hope to repaint the powder room off the kitchen this week, and I'm planning to make this soup today. Cannot wait!
Are you off work for the week? Or is it back to the old grind for you?
p.s. I'm on Instagram! If you are too, come follow me, and I'd love to follow you back! {I'm jdavissquared, of course.}

Half full...
via jennifer davis on Pinterest
Happy Monday to you all!
How was your weekend?
Mine was alright. Some good, some not so good. But all seems to be good in the end....let me explain.
good...we went for a bike ride on Saturday. Ended up going about 10 miles on the trail near our house! So much fun!
not so good...when we returned, Mr. Miles was showing signs of his issue. :( We cancelled our plans for the evening, and stayed put with him.
good...I can honestly say that he never acted like he was in pain, and never got to the point that he was dragging his legs. Just walking on his haunches. And, he never lost his appetite! That's good!
good...I made some pesto! Man, that takes alot of basil! Good thing I have a forest of it in my backyard.
good...I have all the ingredients to make pumpkin syrup this week! Cannot wait!
really, really good...this morning Miles is back on his feet! He's a little wobbly still, but I can tell he's getting better. Hopefully his dose of medicine this morning will help him improve even more. We love our Miles Kitty so much!
So really, that's only one not so good thing this weekend, and it seems much better on this Monday morning!
So tell me, how was your weekend? Do anything fun?

Checking in...
First of all, thank you for all your sweet comments and prayers. You have no idea how much it means to me!
Miles is doing well. He is not back to himself, but certainly is on his way. Monday was really, really hard. He was in alot of pain, and it broke my heart. But, after alot of prayers, I watched his pain subside, and he slept. Every day he's getting a little better. That's all I can really ask for. We're blessed with wonderful caring moms and step-moms who were kind enough to cat sit yesterday so that we could go to work. Today he'll be by himself for a few hours at a time.
We've also learned that the blood clots are most likely a hereditary issue and on the rare occasion that a cat survives it, it's not uncommon for it to reoccur. We're so incredibly grateful for Miles miraculous ability to bounce back and we have a game plan to make sure we're doing everything we can to keep him from relapsing again. We'll just keep fighting the good fight. He has so much love left in him!
This week has exhausted me, as you might imagine. I slept well last night. I was in bed by 9:00 and it was glorious! The only thing is, I dreampt that I lost a tooth. I'm sure I was grinding my teeth in my sleep, cause my tooth in fact hurts this morning. Do you ever do that? I'm sure it's stress related.
Anyway, I may not be back til next week. I promise to have some exciting things to share with you soon. Until then, please know how much I appreciate you all. I'm so lucky to have so many amazing friends! ;) Have a happy weekend!

:(
Gosh, I feel like I'm full of crummy news lately, but I have more. My Miles Kitty is sick again. Same problem as last time. Please pray for him. We caught it right away this time, so hopefully he will pull through for us again, and I'm praying that it won't take as long this time.
I love him so much!
Thanks guys...

lunch shopping...
just got back from a little old navy shopping excursion with a friend over lunch.
bought this
and an adorable yellow tote with tulips and a wine bottle printed on it that I cannot seem to find online! I will have to take a picture of it to share, because it it too cute, and it was only $2.50!
we had lunch at noodles and company . it was so yummy! i had the whole grain tuscan linguini with parmesan chicken and a green salad. I'm sort of looking forward to going again!
the weather is beautiful! did not want to go back to the office!
***just a little note, in case you were wondering:
Miles is doing very well! He had some blood work done yesterday and everything came back normal.
He still needs to submit a urine sample. {yay for me getting to be the lucky collector of that! sorry....is that TMI?} He still has no pulse in his back legs, but obviously his body is working around the clot, because he is getting blood to them or he wouldn't have feeling or be able to walk. We are very, very grateful.
Hope it's beautiful where you are!

i am grateful...
for this little guy.
Mr. Miles is feeling better all the time. He is now walking around a bit and on both of his back feet! He even took a sniff of his food this morning. He's talking to us again {he's a very vocal cat} and sounding more chipper. Still a little wobbly on his feet, but he's getting there. I hope this weekend can bring even more progress, and hopefully a lot of rest for all of us! He still has a way to go, but I feel he is definitely on his way to recovery.
The past few days have been so scary at times. I was terrified I might lose him. I'm so, so grateful that he appears to be on the mend.
I am also so grateful for you. My readers. Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes. It meant so much to me to know that people all over the world were thinking of Miles and wishing him well.
I am not going to do a friday to-do list this week, because all I'm worried about is helping Miles continue his recovery, and getting some rest! If I can do those two things, I'll be happy!
what are your weekend plans?
*****oh, and don't forget, the give away ends today! go enter before it's too late!*****

Poor little Sophie kitty....
Much to my horror, yesterday we discovered an abscess on Sophie's side. It appears that she has been bitten and that it has become infected. I'm quite certain that this is Chloe's doing. {You can check out the little suspect in the left sidebar if you're so inclined.} Chloe loves to torment Sophie, and up until now, my attitude has been to just let them work it out. However, this is not going to fly. Poor Sophie has been sent to the vet {my stepfather} to have her wounds cleaned and attended to. She will be on antibiotics to clear up the infection, and will probably have at least one shaved spot on her fur. I'm hoping they don't find more bites. I feel like a horrible mama. I'm just so glad we discovered it when we did. This little fur ball has really stolen a piece of my heart lately.
In other news, I sold three chalkboards in the last two days on etsy! Hooray!
This weekend, I have an out of control to-do list. From what I can remember it goes something like this:
- gather info for the accountant to finish up our taxes
- balance the checkbook
- fix break lights on my car
- list items on etsy
- make chalkboards
I know there is more. I made a list last night, but it's at home on the kitchen counter....
Hope you all have a lovely weekend! What are your plans?

we need to buy some child locks...
now, before anyone gets excited, let me explain. week before last, chloe (our littlest kitty) discovered the pantry. she has figured out how to pry open the pantry door from standing on the counter above, and crawl inside. she then proceeds to chew on random things. bags of coconut, packets of ketchup, etc.
i devised a method of keeping her out by wrapping an elastic headband around the knobs, but it is such a pain every time we need to get in there. i can't stand it anymore.
she is just the strangest cat. she'll eat anything. mandarin oranges, sour cream and onion potato chips, and apparently now coconut and ketchup. seriously.
