Four for '12...

Pomegranate by jdavissquared  {see #3 below}

The interweb seems to be all a flutter with goals and resolutions as of late. I guess that can be expected.

This year, I set alot of goals.  I'm expecting 2012 to be a pretty epic year!  I won't bore you with them all, but I thought I'd share four with you here.

1. Lose some weight {I know, original, right?}  It's no secret that I've been struggling with about 20-30 pounds for quite some time.  I am determined to see it go.  I had my fun with Christmas goodies and now it's time to talk business.  I downloaded the Lose It app and absolutely love it!  {If you're on Lose It too and want to be friends, let me know!}  I've had luck with counting calories in the past, and this just makes it 1000 times easier than my old notebook log.

2. Record my debit card receipts once a week.  I always stick my receipts in my wallet and end up holding onto them for a month.  This means I have ALOT to record at once and it always takes forever and makes me crabby.  Plus, I'm pretty sure if I could see how much I'm spending, I'd probably make better choices.

3. Take one Instagram photo per day.  {Which I still haven't done today....whoops!}  You can find me on Instagram as, you guessed it, jdavissquared.  Let's photo stalk each other, what do you say?

4. Observe the Sabbath.  One thing that became incredibly clear to me over my break is my need for down time.  Besides, who do I think I am?  If God himself needed a day of rest, why shouldn't I?  I want Sundays to be days of relaxation and family time.  I'm gonna make that happen this year.

What's on your list?  Do you make lots of goals/resolutions, or do you stick to one?

Looking back...

Hello Friends!  Happy New Year to you all!

I've spent the last couple days reading my blog posts from the last year.  It was really quite wonderful to look back, especially over the early part of last year.  So many little things that I'd long forgotten.  I laughed alot.  Mostly at the funny things Jon said.  {like here}  Also, now, re-reading it, I can see even more clearly how much I sort of spiraled into a stress filled crazy lady over the last few months.  Um, sorry about that!  Ha!  Life got a little insane.  I'm really, really hopeful that the new year will bring a new energy.  I can't say I've had enough of vacation, but not sure I ever would.  I do feel more rested and absolutely am ready to make some things happen.

I've been documenting my goals for this next year.  I honestly feel that 2012 is going to be an absolutely amazing year!

What did you do for New Years Eve?
Jon and I stayed in and watched movies.  It was perfect.

Have you set any New Years resolutions?
I like everyone else, would like to shed a few pounds, and I'm also determined to record my debit card receipts once a week instead of once a month.  I've set alot of other goals too, but those two seem more like resolutions.

Here's to 2012!  May it be full of happiness, health and wonderful things for all!

Postively Effort-ful....

via on Pinterest

Well, vacation is over, it's back to the grind.  I'm trying to stay positive.  {Even though I feel like 10 days off went by way too fast and now it's January, and January and February are the most excrutiating months of the year, cause now it's just cold and dark and there aren't any Christmas lights to distract you.}  Hey, I said I'm trying.

I got up early this morning to give myself ample time to get ready, eat breakfast, and read today's reading from the 365 day Bible that my friend loaned me, and still make it to work on time.  Well, I did all that except I still need about 10 minutes more.  Ugh{I'm sure it has nothing to do with my having to say goodbye to my cats and check the stove.  No, not at all.}

Things are looking up, though.  I just found the most magical bicycle photo for this Friday's post.

I suppose my grind isn't all that bad.  I mean, you can't live in your pajama's forever, right?

In an effort to be positive, what is your favorite month of the year?

I think mine is May.  Summer is just beginning, flowers are blooming, but it's not too hot yet.  There's the whole promise of long, lazy days and everything just seems happy.

p.s. Today is my blog-birthday!  jdavissquared has been kickin' it for 2 years!  Who knew that New Years resolution would stick!?  Gives me hope for some other ones!  ;)

Happy New Year!

via on Pinterest

Happy New Year!  I hope you rang it in just the way you wanted.

We had a quiet evening at home with some Jason's Deli take out and Eat Pray Love.  I read the book a couple years ago, and now I can't wait to read it again.  Jon was a little hesitant, with it being a "chick flick" and all, but I think he enjoyed it.  I know I did.  Absolutely perfect movie for New Years Eve!  I was already feeling the excitement of a new year, a fresh beginning, the promise of tomorrow, but it just ramped it up another notch.

I woke up this morning ready to challenge my comfort zone.  Bring it 2011.  Let's dance.

We sat down yesterday and wrote out our goals for this year.  I'm always careful to make my goals realistic, but I think it's important to make them a challenge as well.  They're in the notebook now, in ink, so there's no turning back.  We have big plans for this year, both personally and professionally.  I can't wait to watch this year unfold.

I'm not going to share all my goals here in this place, but I will let you in on a couple of blog related ones.

1. I'd like to continue to bring you reviews and giveaways of products I think you'd like.
{If you own a business, big or small, and would like to sponsor a review and/or giveaway here on jdavissquared, shoot me an email at jennifer(dot)mae(dot)davis(at)gmail(dot)com, I'd love to discuss it with you!}

2. Once a month, I'd like to share a DIY project or tutorial with you.
{This will double to help me find a creative outlet for myself that's not based on Etsy sales.  If one of them evolves into something, great, if not, I'll just have fun!}

3. I'd like to cultivate my relationship with you all!  I've been blessed with such amazing readers, and I want to get to know you!  Let's connect! {This is social media, after all.}  It's my hope that none of you would ever feel shy about commenting here on this blog.  Other ways we can connect:  Facebook, Twitter, Formspring, Pinterest.  Let's get to know each other this year!  ;)

Have you written out your goals for 2011?  If so, I'd love to hear what some of them are!
