Friday, I went to this little fast food mexican place for lunch with my dad and Linda. The place has been there forever, and upon entering we were greeted by the lady behind the counter, who I swear I remember from when I was a kid. She was probably a teenager working there then, and has obviously made a career of it. From here on out, we'll call her "Taco Via".
While I placed my order, Taco Via stared at my belly. While slightly awkward, this is something I've grown increasingly accustomed to in the last few weeks. Then she asks,
Taco Via: "When are you due?"
Me: "November 6th."
Taco Via: "Wow, you're really big. That looks like it could pop any time."
Me: "Well, sometimes it feels like it could pop."
Taco Via: "Sometimes when I tell people they're big, they say it's cause there are twins in there."
Me: "There's only one in here!"
Riiiiiiight. Now, you might be thinking that was bad. And, quite frankly, it was. Luckily, I was in a good mood and not about to let Taco Via make me feel bad about myself.
We went about our way, and ate our lunch. At some point, I got up to get a refill on my drink. Taco Via was now by the drink station doing whatever Taco Via's do between customers. She then engages me in conversation yet again:
Taco Via: "So, is this your first?"
Me: "Yes."
Taco Via: "Cause people who are due when you said you are are NOT that big."
Me: "Well, we're all different!"....awkwardly smiling and thinking, is anyone else catching this?!?
Taco Via: "Sometimes if it's their second or third baby they might be, cause they haven't lost all the weight from the first one."
Me: "....., yeah?"
And then, I honestly can't remember if anything else was said. I looked up at a woman sitting in a booth nearby who's eyes were the size of saucers. She quickly looked away, and I made my way back to our table. My dad immediately told me not to pay any attention to her, that she's crazy.
By the grace of God, I was in just the right mood that afternoon, that I didn't feel hurt by any of this. I mean, really, it was so absurd that I could only laugh. It was as though she was reading straight out of the "What Not to Say to a Pregnant Woman Handbook". I'm not sure you could have scripted it to be worse.
That being said, dad, Linda and I had fun coming up with all the things I could have said in response.
For instance:
"Oh, and how far along are you?"
or
"How many babies have you had, cause I can tell you haven't lost all the weight yourself" {Taco Via is not a lean woman.}
or
{while smiling nicely} "You're so lucky I'm not kicking your ass right now."
I think the only thing that could have made it worse is if she'd tried to go in for a belly feel. That is probably where I would have lost it.
What would you have said to Taco Via?

This morning
| The perfect turquoise wall in Nashville. Snapped some pics for Amanda, cause I knew she'd love it! |
This morning, I....
woke up to the most uplifting email from a good friend. I can see God working in people's lives, and it's absolutely amazing. I'm so lucky to have a team of friends full of faith!
was pondering what I want to be when I grow up. Still haven't figured that one out.
passed a nun in a PT Cruiser on the way to work......that does not happen everyday.
am trying to remember the details of a dream I had last night. The baby was here, and it was squishy, and cute, and oh so sweet. Only problem is I took it out in public and then misplaced it...{!!!} Stressful! I'm trying to remember if it was a boy or girl.
am STARVING and wish I'd made some iced coffee for this morning.
What's up in your world?

some things...
| My admirers. They must think I'm pretty special. |
I've reached that point in my pregnancy where EVERYONE is asking me when I'm due. Which is fine, except when they respond with "You're not due til November!?!?" or "Oh, my! Well, good luck!". I'm trying desperately to not let people's responses make me feel like I must look huuuge. My doctor says everything looks perfect, and that's all that matters. {but I do feel quite large all of a sudden.}
I really wish
I'm surprised I woke up on time this morning. I forgot to set my alarm, and miraculously woke up on time. Yay, me!
I'm so ready for vacation. I can't wait for some quality time with my husband, away from our normal routine.
I'm not at all ready for vacation. Lots to do!
My mother-in-law bought our stroller/carseat for us and sent it home with Jon yesterday. I seriously stared at that box forever last night, imagining what it is going to be like using it.
In my dream last night, I was running gloriously fast, and it felt awesome. Which is weird, cause usually running in my dreams is tortuously slow.
Also in my dream was my aunt who disowned us. {She pops into my dreamland every once in a while, and there's usually a lot of yelling.} This time she was trying to touch my belly, and I told her she wasn't allowed, she'd hurt my feelings too bad. I was very mature in my dream last night!
When I get back from vacation, I have a serious to-do list to tackle.
And finally, I'm currently addicted to English Muffins with strawberry jam. Oh, and my belly itches.
What's on your mind this morning?

Random Thoughts...
I really, really wanted snow this winter, but now I'm over it. Bring on spring!!
I have had a WICKED sweet tooth lately. It's embarrassing how much sugar I've consumed lately. {mainly chocolate} and I've had no desire to work out either...I may be in trouble, folks.
I can't wait for bike rides, which probably will be a necessity this summer. $6/gal gas....seriously!?
I've noticed alot of complaining coming from the SAHM bunch. {for those of you not in the know, that's Stay At Home Mom} Now, I am not judging AT ALL. Not even a little bit. Those ladies have my full and utmost respect. However, it makes me really, really sad. Perhaps my infertile womb is just being crabby, but c'mon, you have children and are lucky enough to get to stay home and raise them. I'm not saying it's easy. Nope, I've got SAHM friends, and they are warriors. But, the things in life worth doing are rarely easy. I can't imagine being a working mom is any cake walk. And really, why's it a competition? SAHM's vs. Working Moms. Maybe someday I'll have the pleasure of getting it, whichever team I end up on. Most likely when I do, I'll be complaining about it either way. That's how it works, right?
What is up with all the "School Feed" requests on Facebook? I mean, I'm not sure why I'm "friends" with half the people I am on Facebook, why do we need another layer of psuedo-friendship? Ugh.
As I was picking out the above photo from pinterest, I realized I haven't been on there for ages! I miss you Pinterest, don't forget about me!
*********
Oh yeah, it's FRIIIIIIDAY!
Thank goodness. It's been a long one, folks. Not in a bad way, but just long.
Looking forward to watching some movies tonight, painting and getting the new Easter baskets in the shop! Oh, speaking of, I lied last week....Easter is 4/8, not 4/14!!! I had a heck of a time getting baskets this year, but the ones I ended up with are SO CUTE. Cannot wait to share them with you! {If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen a peek. @jdavissquared}
Anyway, I'm over this work week.
If you haven't entered to win a Hooknook yet, which most of you haven't, head on over and do that. It's super easy with Rafflecopter, and for reals, your chances of winning are looking pretty good! Ha!
Happy Friday, friends!

Random
I like to think of marshmallows as hot cocoa insulation.
We finally took down our Christmas decorations last weekend. I was starting to feel pretty awkward about it.
{This ones weird....reallly weird!} What happens to people's limbs when they have to be amputated? I mean, what do they do with them? Can people have them cremated so that they can then later be buried with them? {Told you, that was totally weird.....and please, no one actually answer this question....I don't think I really want to know.}
Houses are weird. At the risk of sounding like George Carlin, they really are just big boxes that we keep our stuff in.
*********
It's Friday! This week actually went pretty fast. Maybe cause I took today off work...hooray! Yay for days off. One of my goals this year is to take more time for myself, so I decided to go for it. There's something extra relaxing about being home when everyone else is working. hehe.
On a down note, I weighed in this morning and for the second week in a row, the scale has not budged! What gives? I'm not giving up though. I already ran this morning, and it feels great to have my workout in for the day. I think I'm going to try to get my lazy butt out of bed in the morning this week. Maybe that will get my metabolism rolling again. Plus, I'll be able to accomplish so much more in my evenings. Workouts do seem to suck up the entire evening.
Anyway, happy Friday!
What do you guys have going on this weekend? We're just hanging out and then hosting small group on Sunday.

Random!
I'm sort of sad that there are no more Christmas songs playing. Also, that I have to take down my decorations this weekend. It's always depressing to me. Does this happen to anyone else?
Also, while everyone else is excited about the 60 degree days in January, I can help but feel a little disappointed. I would quite like some snowy days. What? I like the seasons, and this girl needs to see some snow. {and stay at home and drink hot cocoa and watch movies while it falls peacefully outside.}
Sometimes I just don't buy the "casual" pictures by some bloggers. No way that your life is that perfect. I mean, really?
The disgusting state of the work restroom never ceases to amaze me. Nuf said.
Boo Boo {who I just realized I never properly introduced you to....next week, I promise!} all of a sudden has a fascination with Q-tips and thus, digging through the trash. No bueno. I'm gonna have to break him of that fast.
****************************************************************************************************
I'm so glad Friday is here. For a short week, this one sure has been long!
My diet/exercise plan is going well. I think the initial shock has worn off and I'm finally not starving. Yesterday, I didn't even eat all my calories...yeah, it was weird. Today was weigh in Friday, and I'm down 7.8 pounds! I'm sure a good portion of that is water weight, but hey, I'll take it! :)
I've really been quite amazed at how smoothly it's gone. I think there's something about all the graphs and logging that keeps me motivated. Love Lose It.
This weekend I'll be taking down aforementioned Christmas decorations, planning meals and then resting on Sunday. I cannot wait.
What's on your agenda? Did things slow down after the holidays, or is your social calendar still booked?

Randomness...
I cannot believe it's Friday already! Man, this week has flown by.
As I type this I have 20 piggy banks, 7 ornaments, 4 popcorn bowls, 2 Santa Plates and an Audrey Hepburn Silhouette Chalkboard to get done before Christmas......I think I might have to stop taking orders! {If you have your heart set on something for the holidays, you better order it ASAP!}
I watched a woman come out of a bathroom stall and wash her hand. No, that's not a typo. She had a stack of paperwork in one hand, and turned on the faucet and washed her other hand. Ewwwww. I feel sorry for whoever was on the receiving end of those documents. Ick.
Gotta keep this one short and sweet. Need to be out the door to work in 3 minutes and I haven't made my coffee yet!
I will, obviously, be painting like a madwoman this weekend....what are you up to?
p.s. pretty bicycles above...I'm bringing back the bicycle posts! ;)

Randomness...
Do they air How I Met Your Mother in Canada? If so, do Canadians think we're total jerks? I mean, Robin's character is hilarious, but I can only imagine what Canadians must think of her.
Have you seen that commercial with the unicorn that has 3 horns? I've only seen it in fast forward on the DVR, but it's weird. What would that be, a tricorn?
I really dislike it when people waste my time.
I've been watching 16 and Pregnant every night while I fall asleep in bed. Why is that show so addicting?
Our neighborhood is having a holiday decorating contest. First prize is $100. I think if they really wanted to see some decorating, they should bump that up to at least $500.
You know when they do those segments where a reporter goes into public and asks people about current events or history and the people all come off as idiots? I love those. Makes me feel smart.
*******
It's Friiiiiiiiiday!
Thank. Goodness.
Next week is a short week, and I cannot wait for the long weekend! But, in the meantime, I'm having my girls over tomorrow night for some crafting fun. {I'm still deciding on what to make exactly. I may or may not have come up with some other stuff.}
I'm hoping to get lots of painting done this weekend too. This is my world right now.
What are you up to this weekend?

Randomness?
I don't have much randomness to share this week. In fact, I can hardly keep track of what day it is.
Today, I am remembering the Veterans I've known in my life. Each one of them had an impact on my life in their own way. Specifically, I'm remembering Herb Ferney, Eldon Maize and Marty Stutsman. All great men who have now passed on to the next life.
I'm also thanking God for our men and women in the service today. The sacrifice they make every day never ceases to amaze me. Thank you!
I'm slowly coming back to myself. The pain in my heart is starting to turn to peace. I still miss Miles terribly and think about him constantly, but my thoughts have started shifting toward the happy memories instead of the sorrow of the last moments. Thank you so much for hanging in with me over the last week. It has absolutely been one of the longest and hardest ones I've ever experienced. I hope to be back to regular posting next week.
What's on your agenda for the weekend?
I'm contemplating pre-ordering Horrible Bosses from Redbox for tonight. Have you seen it? Should I?
I have LOTS of orders to paint tomorrow, and Sunday we're going to the Chiefs/Broncos game and have small group in the evening.
Only two weeks until Thanksgiving! And Six until Christmas. Deep breaths, people.

Why do gently rolling thunderstorms {you know, the ones that are perfect for sleeping during} always roll through on weekday mornings right as its time to get up?
And also, on the subject of rain: Why does it always start sprinkling right when you get to work, so you have to walk through it?
I hope this doesn't come off wrong, but how do we know that Stephen Hawking is actually saying the things that his computer says? Also, how does he keep the computer from saying everything he thinks? Cause I think a lot of things that I wouldn't actually say!
I know this is probably old news, but it's relatively new to me and I just can't stop laughing about it. In case some of you have been living in a whole like me, I'd like to share with you, the Honey Badger...
This week has been INSANE! I finally painted a rain barrel for some friends that's been on my to-do list for about 4-5 months. It turned out great! Can't wait to give it to them! The shop went nuts this week too, and I currently have 10 piggy banks to paint! {and at least one more order in the works!} On top of that, my 9-5 is crazy as well....it's that time of year! Madness all around!
That being said, life is so, so good right now! Yesterday was an exceptionally good day. Just was.
Tonight we're going to the rodeo with some friends, which should be super fun! I haven't been to the rodeo since I was a kid. Ready to get my cowgirl on! YeeHaw! Apparently Lynard Skynard is playing afterward, so we might stay for that as well.
Tomorrow we're having dinner with Jon's mom and stepdad. {Her birthday is Sunday...Happy Birthday, Wanda! Love you!}
Sunday we're hosting small group, and Monday is Halloween and Chiefs Monday Night Football with my Dad and Linda! Whew.
Oh, and things are not looking good for a Halloween costume. This just might be the year that I flake out.
So busy, but so good!
Do you have one month that always seems to be crazy? Ours is most definitely October.

Randomness...
This is by far the most hilarious video I've seen this week. Just a note, it's not a political statement that I'm aware of. {At least I don't see it as making fun of anyone...just funny.} There's a version with Obama, one with Rick Perry, and apparently some others. Whoever thought of this is brilliant, cause it really does look like they are saying these totally off the wall things. Right about 1:50 is my absolute favorite part. I replayed it like 20 times last night and was laughing that crazy, eyes watering, silent laugh. You know the one.
I learned this week about "fencing". Apparently it's this new thing with rowdy teens where they go around and kick slats out of people's fences. A couple of our neighbors had damage done last week. Has anyone ever heard of this?
I fell asleep watching Kim's Fairytale Wedding the other night, and dreamed I was hanging with the Kardashians. It was super creepy. I really, really tried to give the new Facebook a chance. {I wasn't one of the people that started crying immediately.} However, I've decided I don't like it. Maybe I just don't get it.
I cannot stand it when people just sit and bounce their feet.
So, what's up this weekend? Another busy one around these parts. Tonight we're headed to our good friends' house to eat some chili! There's a chili cook-off going on down the street, so they're making some of their own. We'll be hanging out and then watching fireworks...sounds fun!
Tomorrow evening we're headed to Worlds of Fun with the family. I've never been for the "Fright Night" stuff, so I'm hoping I don't pee my pants...I'm kinda a chicken. I usually just have to worry about maintaining composure on the roller coasters {which scare me, but I will ride anyway, usually.}
Now, I'm gonna have to worry about getting attacked by zombies too.
Sunday, we'll be back with the friends for small group!
It's looking to be a fun weekend, and I'm excited!
What do you have going on?
Are you guys chickens too, or are you calm and composed in "haunted house" situations?

a pretty bicycle picture and some random thoughts from the week...
First of all, make sure you hop over and enter to win the Ruby Snap giveaway ! Somebody's gonna win a sweet prize! Contest ends Monday night!
Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I'm sure you noticed, and I'm sure you missed me. I had every intention of posting about our pumpkin patch excursion, but it just got away from me. I woke up yesterday morning at 3:00 with severe neck pain which rendered me stiff necked the rest of the day. Not that that kept me from posting....anyway, I'l share next week! I'm feeling almost human again today after some ice, some heat and an amazing neck/back rub from my sweet husband.
Now, on to the randomness that is my brain....
Facebook status from guy I went to high school with:
I love my wife. happy 5th year anniversary in 1 month
Do you think that's insurance in case he forgets in a month?
I'm thinking of starting some kind of linky party post here on the blog. What kinds of things would you guys like to link up about? shops? recipes? favorite tv shows? pumpkin patches? DIY's? I'm open to ideas!
I was laughing for 5 minutes straight the other night when, right before Chaz's dance began, Jon said, "well, he certainly looks like an Ewok tonight!"
I just realized that I have attached ear lobes. I have always thought they were detached, but after careful examination, attached they are. {this may be my most random thought yet!}
If you look at them too long, ears start looking really weird!
*****
It's the weekend, yo! Or, at least it will be in just a few hours. We're running a 5k tomorrow morning. Should be perfect weather! I'm also going to take this opportunity to register for the national bone marrow registry. We were fortunate in that Jon didn't need a transplant, but it's still a cause I believe in greatly. It's about time I register! I have some orders to work on, and am hoping to relax. That's about it!
Oh, and I wanted to put an offer out there....I have really cute pink and blue piggy banks in the shop, but I have yet to get an order. I find some people need to see a painted sample to recognize the cuteness that is any gift, so I'm looking for help! If you're interested in being one of the first two orders for each color, I'll give you a 20% discount on your purchase. This will give you a great deal, and me some photographs to put in the shop! Win-win. Contact me if you're interested!
So,
Interested in a linky party? What would you like to share?
Are your earlobes attached or detached?
Are you on the bone marrow registry?
Would you like to buy a pink or blue piggy bank? ;)
Have a magnificent weekend, friends!

Randomness....
Monday night, I was bending over to put something under the sink and felt my femur come out of my hip socket and then go back in. It was disgusting! Didn't really hurt, but it totally freaked me out.
Why is the abbreviation for pounds "lbs."? That makes no sense. {Just looked it up, apparently it has something to do with the latin word for pound.}
I love sleeping with the windows open when it starts to get cold in the night. Snuggling under the blanket is the best.
If I had the time, I'd make these for halloween decorations for the yard.
Maybe someday.
I want to do this to my nails. {I have all kinds of glitter polish.}
The bonfire is scheduled! Wheeeee! Can't wait.
Also, the annual pilgrimage to the pumpkin patch is this Sunday! I'm super excited. Cannot wait to hunt some pumpkins. Take that, autumn to-do list! :)

I'm going to try something new this week. Instead of a pretty bicycle picture, I'm going to share a random picture from the week, and some other found things. Next week, I'm gonna focus on capturing more randomness to share with you. Cause I love randomness, and I think you do to.
Last night, after an evening of shopping, my mom and I stopped at Taco Bueno to grab some food. At one point I looked down at my MexiDips and Chips and saw this little guy staring back:
This is the song stuck in my head this week:
This video also had me cracking up. I originally saw it on Pinterest, and then Facebook. Too funny!
I really want to make this. I need more cardigans now that fall weather is upon us!
Oh, and I know what I'm going to be for Halloween! I don't think I've ever had it figured out this early. Now I just have to pull all the pieces together.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! I have tons of orders from this week to paint, and I'm hoping to get some fall decorations up...it's time!

A pretty bicycle picture and random thoughts from the week....
I feel sorry for people who don't know Miles. He's the coolest.
Our neighbor across the street leaves every night at 9:00 and returns at 9:30. We started noticing this last winter, and I saw that his truck was gone last night again. Is it bad that I kinda want to follow him to see what he does? So strange.
They're installing new cable lines in our neighborhood this week. A couple nights ago, one of the workers left his radio on. There were faint sounds of a mexican fiesta wafting through the air that night. ha! It was awesome.
Is there anything better than sleeping with the windows open on crisp almost-autumn nights, snuggled in under a down comforter? I think not.

It's Friday, friends!
What's on your agenda this weekend? I have some orders to paint, and some hanging with friends and eating pizza to do.
I'm sad that I have to work an entire day today....no more half day Fridays. :( But, I'm sure happy to have had them during summer. It's just hard to believe summer is already over!
So, tell me: Where you live, are your neighbors friendly? Do you know their names? Do you hang out with them? Talk over the fence? Have some drinks on their porch?
We do all of the above. Our old neighborhood was nothing like this. I have to say, I absolutely love where we live. I'm never leaving. :)

A pretty bicycle picture and random thoughts from the week....
How did people get things out of their eyes before mirrors were readily available? I guess you needed good friends.
As much as I've tried to deny it for so long, no music touches me like country. I guess it's in my blood.
Purging is the best. I just moved desks at work, and got rid of TONS of junk I didn't need. I think it really clears your mind as well as your space.

I'm home for the afternoon, and I think Jon and I are going to take a walk down to the pool. Only one more week to enjoy it, and it will be nice and quiet since the kiddos are in school. Tomorrow, I'm going on the second annual antiquing day with my mom. Cannot wait!
My college fund piggy was featured in this blog today. I'd love it if you all would go vote for me! Please? Ballot is in the top of the right collumn. Thanks! ;)
Oh, and if you haven't chimed in on what I should take to small group for dessert, you should! Why? Well, cause it would make me happy! You guys like it when I'm happy, right?
What are you guys up to? Any fun plans for the weekend? Also, what kind of music do you listen to?

Duct Tape Diapers and Maxi Pads...
I recently discovered this in my news feed on Facebook:
I put Johnny* in a jerry-rigged diaper (with duct-tape and a maxi-pad) which was a bit hard to frantically rip off when he stepped in a fire-ant hill. Me? Not mom of the year I imagine.
Umm.......sorry, but WTF!? Is this the kind of stuff you moms do on the regular?...
To see what else I have to say about this, head over to I Love You More Than Carrots. I'm guest posting today! And please, make sure you show AP some love while you're there!

A pretty bicycle picture and random thoughts from the week....
I used the grill all by myself for the first time in my life on Monday. {I am fully aware how lame it is that I've never done this before.} My husband ALWAYS does the grilling, but he wasn't home. I felt so accomplished!
How do people stand wearing jingly jewelry?
Do you think anyone is named Bobert?
Jon woke me up this morning at 5:00 kicking his legs like crazy...I'm still not sure what that was all about. Boy does strange things in his sleep.
My neighbor wrote this on my Facebook wall this week: "Remember, there are no lifeguards in the gene pool." I thought that was pretty funny. She also said that she's learned that in life you have friends you wish were family and family you wish were strangers.

This has probably been one of the craziest weeks I've had in a long time. We've been working on a huge project at work for what seems like forever, and we're finally wrapping it up. My creativity is zapped and I'm really hoping to replenish it soon. Some down time will be nice....and some beers. ;) Also, I'd really like to soak up some of this crazy hot summer. It seems to be passing by much too quickly. I'm not ready to give up on it yet. Still so much to enjoy!
I'm so excited about some things that are in the works right now. Some big, some huge, but all exciting. Can't wait to share everything with you all.
I'm hoping it might rain today. It's been so dry here! There was a thunderstorm last night, but it went right around us. We got all the dark skies and thunder and lightning, but not a drop of rain. :(
I hope you have a splendid weekend!
Are you ready for fall, or do you still have things you want to enjoy this summer?

Giggles, Boos and Yeahs....
Some photos making me giggle on Pinterest lately...
Hope you enjoy!
Boo's:
I'm still feeling a little crispy, and I'm so ready for the weekend! We're almost there!
I keep thinking it's Friday today, but it's so not.
I have this song stuck in my head, and I'm not even a fan.
Yeah's:
I'm super excited about some new stuff I have coming to the shop....soon!
I'm so completely overwhelmed with how much I love my husband....he's pretty amazing.
What are your Boos and Yeahs today? Any giggles to share?
Is that lame? Boos and Yeahs? I'm to crispy to tell.
The end.
Hope you enjoy!
