Help me bloggy-blog readers, you're my only hope....

Happy Monday!
I can't say that I'm necessarily excited for a new work week, but I am ready for a fresh start.  Last week was not a good one.   I mean, I've had worse, but it wasn't very good.  I was dealing with some family drama, and going round and round with a vendor.  Let's just say I had my fair share of breakdowns last week.  Ugh.  No more!  I just want to start fresh this week with a better attitude and a clean slate.

So, here goes...

We painted our office on Saturday.  I'm still trying to decide if I like it.  I want to like it, but I'm just not sure.  Maybe you guys can help.

We chose Sherwin William's Rainwashed.  {only we had it mixed in Behr paint at Home Depot...cheaters}  I decided to go with your suggestions of picking a neutral, but I thought I'd kick it up just a notch and pick a fun neutral {turquoise can be neutral, right?}.  So many of my pins had turquoise walls, so I decided on this, what I thought to be a toned down, dirty turquoise.
I had a hard time getting a good photo of the room, in fact my pictures totally bite, so I found some online.  Both these claim to use the same color paint we used.

Obviously, my office is not a beautiful bedroom, but at least you get the idea.

My concern is, it looks so blue to me!  And, I am not at all a fan of powder blue.  It's really making me nervous.  Jon says it looks turquoise to him.

These rooms both look turquoise, but ours looks powder blue, I swear!  Do you think it's cause my room is empty?  Perhaps the light reflecting off the snow is casting a blue tint?  I just see more blue than green in mine.

Do you think I should make my poor husband re-paint, or do you think once I get the furniture in and the shelving that it will be okay?   I need to decide soon.  Poor Jon.

  1. I love both of the pictures... wish they were MY bedroom! LOL I think once you put the furniture back in there, and the window treatments, and wall decor it will tone down the powder blue. Especially if you pull in some khaki like in the first photo... the brown will definitely mellow the blue!

Can't wait to see a picture of your studio!

  2. It's hard to decide in an empty room. I had the some panic attack when we went with red. It was RED!!!!! But once the furniture was back in, the pictures were on the walls and the books on the shelves, it became my favorite room in the house.

  3. Try it with a daylight or trulight bulb - lighting makes all the difference. I totally get the blue thing - I'm not a fan of light blue at all either.A bright sunny day should make a difference too!

  4. yes, definitely get something in there...maybe something white or light colored just to check. and then get some natural light...i'm sure it's the right color! when we painted our house the tan color i thought it looked white, i swore it was white, not tan. then we started painting the baseboards and, yep, it was tan after all! ha!
sorry you've had some family drama...we must need to catch up!

  5. I love the color!

I would say it's aqua. When you add some turquoise/aqua in there it will show!

I painted my office what they called sage. Not what I call sage! LOL It has totally grown on me and the more that I had it on the walls, the more I decided it was "their" vision of sage for me to see each day!

  6. It's really hard to say from your photos but just try to put in the furniture and play with the lighting. It will amaze you how it will 'change' the hue of the walls.
Also - what color it your floor? Is it a wooden floor?
And last thing - wait a couple of days. The paint need to be totally dry before you see its real shade. Even if it is dry to touch, it still needs a couple of days.

  7. I like the color choice a lot, that is a perfect compromise! I think it might be the lighting that makes it look more powdery blue? I would move a piece of furniture or two in the room to see what you think then. :) Keep us posted.
