flying...

I cannot believe how fast the weeks are flying by....

This past weekend was great, but oh-so-exhausting! The biggest thing we accomplished was registering for baby gifts. Which, was super fun, but man, did it wear me out! Thankfully, we had the foresight to break it into a couple of days. We got warmed up on Friday evening at Target, and then moved on to the big guns at Buy Buy Baby on Saturday.

Yeah, we pretty much had NO IDEA what we were doing! Ha! I'm going to need to get online and tweak some things for sure, but it feels so good to have the majority of it done.

Sadly, I took no pictures of the registering madness. :(

We also went to a first birthday party for a sweet little girl, I painted some of the many piggy bank orders sitting in my queue, and made dinner for some great friends who are new parents. (we're delivering tonight and seeing new baby!) Oh, and I pretty much spent the whole day yesterday lounging around on the couch.

I swear, with all the things going on, time is just flying by. I need it to slow down so I can catch my breath and get some things crossed off my list. Nesting is going to take me down if I don't get a grip!

Luckily, we have a vacation coming up at the end of the week! Hooray!

Any suggestions on things to do/see/places to eat in Nashville?

Also, I just bought one of these knock-off JCrew bubble necklaces from Groopdealz.com.  I couldn't help myself!   For $19.99, you can't go wrong!    {p.s. if you want one too, and use that link, I'll get a little bonus toward my next impulse buy.  Thanks!}

This morning feels like a fresh start.  It's the first day of summer hours.  {9 hr workdays M-Th, 4 hrs on Fri} I LOVE summer hours!  While some of those early mornings get tough during the week, they're completely worth it come Friday.  I cannot wait for my half day this week, and for the long weekend that will follow.  Here's to a relaxing and fun summer!  When summer hours end, we'll be just two months away from meeting our babe.  {Squeeee!}

This last weekend was a productive one. Well, more so for Jon than me, although I did cross some things off my to-do list. I'll tell you what, that man is nesting like a mother hen! He's been doing all kinds of projects around the house. Hanging shelves in the basement, putting sealers on all the windows and doors, painting cabinets for piggy bank storage, and who knows what else.

I did some painting, made some baked potato soup {cannot get enough} and got completely caught up on laundry {hooray!}.

We bought a new mattress on Saturday. We tried out at least 20, many of them multiple times. It was quite the process. I really hope we like what we decided on! I've been a little nervous that we went too soft, but it was just so comfy! I didn't want to get up, I could have seriously taken a nap, so I want to believe that's a good sign.

The weather has been nothing short of perfection around here lately. We've been enjoying having the windows open and soaking in the cool breeze at night....my favorite. I always feel like I sleep better in the fresh air.

Oh, and one last thing. I'm drinking a decaf iced coffee this morning, and it is delish. That is all.

What's your mattress preference? Firm or soft?

Anniversary weekend....

This weekend was fantastic. I got an entire 2 1/2 days with my man {which is unprecedented lately} and it was so nice!

We watched movies, had a wonderful anniversary dinner, talked about little baby Davis, talked about a summer vacation, and even cleaned out the fridge...I know, sounds silly, but it made me so happy to get that done! Oh, and Jon sent me an Edible Arrangement! I was super excited. I've always wanted one, and it did not disappoint. He even had them cut one of the pineapple slice into a 5....awe.

All in all it was quite relaxing and just nice to spend time together. Jon has been working into the evenings alot lately. Comes with the territory of moving into working as a Realtor full time, but I sure do miss him. It doesn't help that this pregnant lady is ready for bed by 8:30 or 9:00 every night.

Over dinner on Saturday we reminisced about our first 5 years of marriage. About the ways we've grown, and our best memories. Funniest moments, favorite moments. We watched the teenagers who were out for prom, and talked about how old they make us feel, and what our daughter {should we have one} would and wouldn't be allowed to wear out of the house.

It was fun.

What did you do this weekend?

The Great Bunny Rescue of 2012...

Friday afternoon Jon called me at work to inform me that we had three little bunnies in our egress window in the basement. I can't for the life of me figure out how three little babies fall into a window.....one, sure, but three!?

Anyway, they were adorbs.

They're little ears just about killed me....so tiny, and so cute!

Jon to the rescue!

Ahhhh, back on ground level.

One of the little guys jumped in the drainage tube at the bottom of the window, so he had to be rescued later that night when he re-emerged, but luckily, his friends were still there, so he's not alone.

My goal for the weekend was to come away realigned and back on track. It still remains to be seen if I accomplished this, but it was a great weekend! We spent some fun time with family, checked some things of the to-do list, and even watched a couple of movies.

What did you do this weekend?

Oh, and I adore these patterns. I've always had a thing for pattern...

Thank God for A/C...

         Source: kissrichmond.com via jennifer on Pinterest

I hope you're all having a great day! I'm so happy that it's Friday afternoon...it's been a long week, my friends.

I'm going to spend the afternoon relaxing with my man. Maybe I can talk him into going for some ice cream? We'll have to eat it fast, in this heat. Is it as hot were you are as it is here? Holy cow. Temps in the upper 90's and heat indexes in the 100's with no end in site. Thank God for A/C, am I right?

We don't have many plans for the weekend, and I'm so thankful for that. I need some down time. I'll happily work on some things around the house and maybe even watch some movies. Sounds nice.

Anyway, I'm not feeling overly clever today, so that's all I have for you. Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend!

Do you like ice cream, frozen custard, or frozen yogurt best? Or none of the above {gasp!}?

I'm not picky at all, I'm perfectly happy with them all. Although, I feel like frozen custard is the most decadent and fro-yo seems lighter, healthier even.

The writing on the wall...

Hi guys! Seems like it's been forever. I trust you all had a fab weekend?

Oh, yes, I had a wonderful weekend! Thanks for asking!

I'll have to tell you about it a little at a time.

For starters, Saturday was rainy and cold. {Well, actually, the weekend started with a Friday afternoon off for me, spent packaging orders and relaxing.} Anyway, Saturday, we ventured out for our date to the Nelson. But first, we went to Midtown to D'Bronx. I've been hearing about their pizza my entire life, but had never been there! It was pretty dang good. Although, the best part was reading all the stuff people write on the walls, and of course, adding our own mark.

We were careful not to stuff ourselves beyond comfort, and left packing enough pizza for at least 3 more meals. We got to the Nelson and even realized we could park across the street for free. {As opposed to in the garage for $5.} That made the whole museum trip free since there's no admission fee. We like free stuff!

The exhibit on Naismith's Original Rules of Basketball was quite anticlimactic. It was literally two pieces of paper typed. I guess I don't know what I was expecting. I thought there'd be photos, or drawings or something to go with it. Nope, two pieces of paper, folks! Being the good {Jayhawk} basketball fans we are, we read through the rules. I was quite impressed that the original rules included goal tending! I would have thought that had come later, but nope. Mr. Naismith saw that coming!

Since it took all of five minutes to see the rules, we had a few hours to browse through the rest of the museum.  It's been a long time since I've been in the old building. {The last time I was there, I was just in the Block Building.}  They've moved stuff around from how I remember it, but it's still fantastic.  The building itself is magnificent, and full of marble, granite and limestone.  It is solid.  The exhibits range from ancient to modern.  {There is even a real mummy on display.}

We only got through maybe half of the exhibits before Jon pooped out on me.  But, he's promised to take me back.  {I think he enjoyed it!}

I haven't been to many art museums, but the Nelson can certainly hold it's own with the one's I've seen. It's really quite impressive. If you're ever in KC, you should definitely check it out!

More weekends shenanigans to come....

What's your favorite style of pizza? I do enjoy New York style, but I think St. Louis is my absolute fave. Love me some thin crust!

3 things from the weekend...

1. Black Swan....

                                                                                 Source: bing.com via jennifer on Pinterest

Grade: C
I'm still trying to figure out what happened in this movie. I think maybe I'm not smart enough to get it. I did find it somewhat interesting, but Jon hated it. Overall, it's just....eh.

2. The Royal Wedding...

                                                             Source: news.nationalpost.com via jennifer on Pinterest

Grade:  A
Like I said last week, I'm not someone who usually gets into celebrity worship of any kind, but I couldn't resist this one. The little girl in me wouldn't have it. I enjoyed seeing the production of it all, I mean, who doesn't love a good wedding? My favorite part: the glances the couple gave eachother during the ceremony.

3. Strawberry Freeze...

                                                          Source: kraftrecipes.com via jennifer on Pinterest

Grade: B+
I made this dessert for small group last night. It was pretty good, if I do say so myself! The only complaints: 1. It softens really fast! The 15 minutes for softening called for in the recipe should be more like 5. And, 2. the cookie crust was super hard. {This might be partly my fault, as we used chewy chips ahoy instead of regular. Jon wanted chewy. I think the regular might soak up the filling and work better, instead of just freezing into solid blocks.} I'd definitely make it again though!

**********************************************************************************************************************************

Other than the above, my weekend was lovely.  We had some beers with the neighbors {new and old}on Friday night.  {Have I told you how much I love where I live?}  Got to spend some time with my dad while Jon worked on his truck on Saturday.  Crossed some things off our to-do list, and spent time with friends.  I even picked up the house a bit.  {I feel like I can breathe again as every surface isn't covered in random junk now.}

How was your weekend? What's the best thing that happened?

A pretty bicycle picture and random thoughts from the week....

                         Source: designspongeonline.com via jennifer on Pinterest

Do you ever feel gypped when a big time blogger posts something you posted about just days before?  It's happened to me twice now {same blogger}.  I'm sure it's purely coincidence, but I have a moment where I'm like, hey!  Stop stealing my favorite stuff!  {as if.}

I'm so not into celebrities, but I have a sudden fascination with the royal wedding. I'll be watching my recording of it...no I didn't get up at 3 in the morning to watch live. I guess it's the little girl in me who wants to see a real prince and princess get married.

Does anyone else find it weird that you have to stab a potato a hundred times before microwaving it? I mean, you don't have to do that with anything else...thank goodness.

*********************************************************************************************************************************
Hooray! It's Friday! And it's springtime!

This weekend, I'll be planting some more flowers {in addition to the ones I planted last weekend}, cleaning my house {it's filthy}, and spending time with some of my favorite peeps. Simple, relaxing, fun.

What's on your agenda? Did anyone get up early/stay up late to watch the wedding? If so, tell me about it!

Thanks for all your wonderful comments this week! You guys truely are the best. Happy weekend!

Not so random...

                       Source: designspongeonline.com via jennifer on Pinterest

So, I either didn't have many random thoughts this week, or I just forgot to record them.  No randomness this Friday morning!  {I'll still give you a pretty bicycle picture, though.}

This week has gone so fast, but has left me feeling pretty exhausted. I was ready for bed at 8:30 last night, and let me tell you, I slept so good!

This weekend, I have lots to get done. I'll be traveling part of next week for work, and I have to prepare myself. Not just physically {getting travel sized toiletries, finding a book to take, clearing off my camera} but also mentally. I'm not the best at flying. I get claustrophobic and completely over think it. Any tips for staying calm? {That sounds like I'm going to have a meltdown. I won't...it's a silent struggle.} Also, I'm not so good at being away from my honey...I suppose I can survive. :(

I have a few piggy banks to finish up this weekend, and Sunday we're going to go see one of our best friends' baby get baptized. Can't wait!

What's going on with you? Do you travel much? Business or pleasure?

In case you missed it this week:

3 things to Make this Weekend: A DIY Tutorial List

It's that time of the week again! Are you figuring out what's on your to-do or to-make lists yet? I know I am. I'll mostly be painting orders, but if I get a few spare minutes, I might just tackle one of these easy DIY projects.

1.Twenty Minute Totes by the Purl Bee {found via IHOD
These look super simple, even for a novice seamstress like me. I think it's all about finding cute fabric!
2. Coffee Can Lanterns via Design Sponge
I've had this tutorial tucked away for ages, and now with warm weather approaching, I'm ready to make it a reality. I'd love to stick some citronella candles in these and help make some mood lighting for drinks on my patio.
3. First Project: Easy tshirt Scarf via Made This Love This
Have you heard about Indiana Austin's newest project? The darling face of Adored Austin just launched a new social, DIY site called Made This Love This. It's just getting started, and this is the first project. Indiana learned to sew not too long ago and is looking for a community with which to practice and share. Sounds super fun to me! This first project doesn't even involve sewing and is super simple. I made a quick version the other day, but I'm determined to whip up another one this weekend! Come join us

This weekend...

         Source: flickr.com via jennifer on Pinterest

This weekend I...
  • Watched my team win :), and then watched them lose. :(
  • Drank some delicious brew.
  • Proved myself stronger than I thought I was.  {more on this later}
  • Spent time with some of my favorite people.
  • Marveled in the last snowfall of the season's big fluffy snowflakes.  {last...according to the farmer's almanac}
  • Watched this movie.
  • Fell in love with my husband all over again. He really is the best.
What did you do? Is it still snowy where you are?

A pretty bicycle picture and random thoughts from the week....

                                  Source: thecitycradle.com via jennifer on Pinterest

I've been noticing a lot of nude photos on Pinterest lately. What up?
{added later} Apparently I'm not the only one!

I really have some amazing friends. Looking back over the last year, there have been some major ups and downs in the friend department, but overall, I'd say I've definitely come out closer to the right people and am better for it. I'm feeling very blessed this week.

*Warning, this one's totally lame: Last night I was watching a youtube video about KU's Championship win in 2008. It got me thinking about what a great metaphor that game was for life. I remember watching it and with about 2 minutes left thinking it was over, it had slipped away. {I was rocking back and forth in the fetal position at this point...not kidding} Then, things started coming together, maybe it was possible. With the seconds winding down, Chalmers threw up that shot, the shot that could tie the game and give us a chance in overtimeJayhawk fans across the country held their breath, and it went in. It went in! Of course, you all know we went on to win the game. It was glorious. Anyway, I was thinking how that game actually taught me something. It really isn't over til it's over. Sometimes, it seems that you're down by 9 with 2:12 left. It doesn't look good. But, if you keep the faith, you just might get there. I realize this is not always the case, but it is just one of many examples from my life that I rely on for that glimmer of hope when I need it. Cause, sometimes that's all it takes, just a glimmer.

We had our first grilled mushrooms and peppers of the year this week and, oh my goodness! I have missed those babies. Seriously could eat them every. single. day.

**********************************************************************************************************************************

What's up, friends?  It's Friday!  {Insert collective sigh of relief here}

This week has been a long one, no? Daylight savings got really diffucult about Thursday for me. Hopefully I'm on the upswing from here. You?

I've heard Spring starts on Sunday, is that right? How awesome does that sound? Why am I asking so many questions?

Anyway, this weekend, I'm going to work on some orders...two piggies and two Easter baskets, work on a new project that may or may not involve the opening of a new shop {eek!}, and watch some basketball!

Jon will be working alot this weekend, too. He recently got his real estate license and has his first open house on Sunday. Wish him luck! I'm so excited for him, and I just might take his picture like my mom used to do on my first day of school.

Other than that, we're planning dinner with my family tomorrow night and hopefully some church in there somewhere too.

What's on your agenda this weekend?

Oh, and conclusion from yesterday: Shamrock shakes must not be all their hyped up to be. I guess people just go nutty over stuff that's only around for a specific period of time. At least, that's my guess.

Best for Last...

Weekends are good. I enjoyed mine, how about you?

We really didn't do all that much this weekend. But, our house is finally, mostly clean! {there are some spots that need dusting, and the floors need to be mopped, but overall it's so much better!} That took up most the day Saturday. We intended to go to the grocery store Saturday evening, but it didn't end up working out. Which, led me to eat next to nothing healthy on Saturday {we're talking garlic cheese toast for dinner at 10:00...seriously, what is wrong with me!?} That led me to the worst 4 mile run of my life Sunday morning. I just didn't have any fuel in the tank! :( It was awful. I have ran so much farther with so much less effort. On a positive note, I still ran it, even though it sucked, and I've now determined that my eating needs to change. We stocked up on healthy foods yesterday, and I've decided to start counting calories again. Only for a while, until I get myself under control. I have gained some serious weight over the last year or so, and it's gotta stop. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for pity, or for you to say, "oh, Jen, you look great!" I know where I am, and I'm not satisfied with it, so I'm gonna change it.

Anyway, enough about that. Did you all watch the Super Bowl? I can't really say I watched it, but I watched some of the commercials. Mostly disappointing, I'd say. This one did stand out to me as one of the more funny ones though.

Doritos: Best for last

What was your favorite commercial last night?

You can watch all the commercials at www.foxsports.com/ads

Oh, and I upgraded the comments to Disqus over the weekend! I'm hoping it will make it easier for me to connect with you all. If you sign up for a Disqus account, which is quick, free and easy, they'll keep you informed of replies to your comments...pretty cool, you should check it out! When I signed up I saw some replies from bloggers I read that I never even knew were there. It's a great tool for turning comments into discussions! If you have any issues with posting comments with the new system, please let me know so I can fix it!

Have a great week!

Random thoughts from the week....

            Source: flickr.com via jennifer on Pinterest

I have recurring dreams, or at least recurring themes to my dreams.  I have lots of dreams with lots of water.  Sometimes it's rain, sometimes it's the ocean, or a giant waterslide, this time it was my dad's house filled with water.  It was fun though, like a swimming pool.  I also have lots of dreams with corpses.  Sounds demented, but it's not in my dreams.  I know weird, right?  {this is a random post, after all.}

No one on our street went to work on Wed.  This was evidenced by EVERYONE out shoveling snow together. It's nice to know we have neighbors who look out for one another, but Jon and I watched from inside. {And then Jon went out with the snow blower on Thursday morning.}

Blizzards make me really glad I'm not a postal carrier.

Crock pots are the best invention ever.

I really kinda love running again. Amazing.

This time of year, the sun blinds me at my desk at about 4:20pm. That means the days are getting longer!

Why do they only let the beautiful people play Minute to Win It?

*********************************************************************************************************************

Weekend, again, already!?

This week has been a weird one. Work Monday, off Tuesday and Wednesday, work Thursday and Friday. I could totally hang with this schedule! But seriously, those two snow days could not have come at a better time. Shutting myself off from the world, and being with my sweet husband for a couple of days is exactly what I needed right then. You really have no idea...

This weekend will be much like every weekend for us. Nothing special planned. Except maybe, finally getting our new office situated. I will say that it's going to be amazing! I promise I'll share photos as soon as it's done. Promise.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I hope each and every one of you knows how much I enjoy you. Thanks for stopping by this place and commenting. You are a bright spot in my day!

Happy Friday!

What are your plans for the weekend? Anything special?

There's a storm brewing....

                            Source: designcrushblog.com via jennifer on Pinterest

Hi all! I hope you had a great weekend, my friends! I know I did. I told Jon last night, I really don't feel like I accomplished anything this weekend. However, it was still great.

We kept things pretty simple. Saturday we went grocery shopping and watched our Jayhawks whomp the Wildcats. Yesterday I got in a 6 mile run {holla!}, went to church, did some laundry and watched Shrek Ever After. We did have to take a quick break and google Rumplestiltskin cause neither of us could remember who he was. Oh, and I think we decided our new Sunday tradition {at least for the rest of winter} is soup in the crock pot and pancakes for dessert. You've heard of breakfast for dinner, why not breakfast for dessert? ;)

There is a huge storm brewing here in the midwest and they're calling for ice today and 10-13 inches of snow tomorrow! {holy smokes!} I'm thinking it might be a great day to take a snow day of my own! We'll see.

What's going on in your neck of the woods? Watch any good movies this weekend?

Ever had breakfast for dessert? Have any amazing crock pot soup recipes that we should try?

A pretty bicycle picture and random thoughts from the week....

Is it bad that I'm kind of dreading the onslaught of Valentines posts that's sure to hit blogdom any day now?

Sorry, but if 9 of the 13 tweets visible in my feed window are you, I'm gonna have to unfollow.

This is the coolest thing I've seen this week. Angela posted it on her blog, and I wanted to help spread the word! I sure hope he finds the owners, and that we can see what happens.

I have a sudden urge to collect nesting dolls. I had a set as a kid...I wonder what ever happened to them?

I'm so jealous that my Dad and his sweetie are going to the Magic Kingdom today, but so excited for them! I told them they have to get some Mickey Mouse ears and take pictures! ;) If they send me some, I might just have to share.

I have a large amount of caffeine coursing through my veins at this exact moment....ugh. It not really a good feeling, but it was fun trying a Keurig for the first time!

Sometimes a little confidence goes a long way.

************************************************************************************************************

Can you believe it's Friday already!?  This week has flown by!  I'm looking forward to the balmy temps.  {we're supposed to get up to 45 today!}  And, I'm hoping Jon's successful at getting the Christmas lights off the house today.  {carefully, of course.}

This weekend, I'm planning on organizing my new office.  {pictures to come next week!}
I also think the hubs and I may need a date night.  Oh, and our house needs a cleaning....bad. {don't I say that every week?}

What's on your agenda this weekend?

And...what's your opinion on Valentine's Day? I think it's overrated. I mean, of course I love celebrating love, but I think people put too much pressure on it as a holiday. Don't hate me, just my opinion.

Cha-cha-changes...

via on Pinterest

As you can probably see, the blog got a bit of a makeover this weekend! I started playing around Saturday morning, and decided it was time to de-clutter. I've always really liked the three column layout, but it just seems like too much lately. And, now I can post larger pictures!

I'm still getting used to it. See, I'm not very good with change. {as shown here} It takes me a while to get used to things. That being said, I'm really excited about my new navigation bar at the top, complete with an "about me" page, a "shop" page, and the "connect" page has a whole list of all the places we can become pals! I hope you'll check 'em out and let me know what you think!

I have to be honest, I'm already dreaming up a whole new theme/layout, but it will be a while before it's up and running.

The rest of my weekend was fab! It was the perfect mix of productive and relaxing.

That extra half day on Friday made all the difference in the world! I got to chat with my bestie, and get the grocery shopping done before I would usually even be off work. It was great! We made Amanda's taco soup for dinner, and it hit the spot! So delicious!

We had a wonderful dinner with family on Saturday night, complete with a good old fashioned Catch Phrase showdown. {The girls won something like 6 to 2} We will long remember my brother-in-law yelling "bad dog!" and my dad's hand gestures for "swan song". It's definitely one of those "had to be there" things, but trust me it was hilarious!

I got in a 4 mile run yesterday.  {on the treadmill...it's way to cold outside!}

We spent some time with our small group last night, and got to oh and ah over the babies. I love those peeps.

We finished the weekend by falling asleep on the couch to Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

It doesn't get much better than that, folks.  Oh, and we did have plenty of hot chocolate too!  {oh, and Jon spent lots of time on the office...it's getting close!}

How was your weekend? What's your favorite kind of soup?

A pretty bicycle picture and random thoughts from the week....

via on Pinterest

I love it when you see a stranger doing something they think no one sees. Like today, I saw a man dancing in the grocery store. It made me smile!

Does anyone use Disqus? Like it? Hate it? I'm toying with the idea of using it, as it's supposed to be easier to respond to comments, but I hate to switch if it's gonna make people not comment. Thoughts?

As of Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. I have 92 emails from Pinterest in my inbox {now we're up to 116}. Seriously people, there must be a better way!

I swear, every time I'm in the shower, I see something out of the corner of my eye and think it's a person. I'm sure it's just a reflection, and it usually doesn't scare me. But, what if it's a ghost!? Like a peeping Tom ghost! ;)

Sometimes I wish things were really the size of the "elarged to show texture" picture. That seems like it'd be awesome.

I honestly do not understand people's obsession with celebrity news. I just don't care.

Happy Friday, friends! I'm working a half day today, as I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon. I'm hoping to get a jump start on some cleaning and laundry when I get home. Our house is a disaster, and I've had it!

We have a family dinner planned tomorrow night, and small group on Sunday. Looking forward to the good company this weekend. I'm sure there will also be alot of hot chocolate consumed at the Davis house in the next 48 hours. We're kind of addicted.

What are your plans for the weekend? I'd love to hear.

See you Monday!

It's snowy around these parts!

via on Pinterest

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours went by in a flash!

Our Christmas decorations are officially packed away. {except the outside lights, they'll come down when the blizzard stops}

We watched the Chiefs break the record for most consecutive playoff losses. {Is it bad that I'm secretly happy that football season is over?}

And, we spent some time with some of our favorite folks last night!

It all went way too fast, and today it's super snowy around these parts. If only we could stay home, watch movies and drink hot cocoa. No such luck!

What did you do this weekend? Are you a football fan? Any snow where you are?

Oh, and if you haven't yet, make sure you go enter the giveaway! Free bag of Choffy up for grabs!
